The Decorative finishing and industrial painting occupations NVQ level 3 qualification structure below specifies the combination of units that need to be achieved for the individual to be awarded the qualification. The qualification is aimed at Decorative and industrial painters currently applying their trade in the construction industry.
Gold CSCS Card
On completion of your NVQ qualification, along with passing the relevant CITB HS&E test (within the last 2 years), you will be able to apply for the blue CSCS skilled worker card.

The structure of this qualification is built up using mandatory units and optional units, all seven mandatory units must be completed and one optional unit from group A and one optional from group B to be completed to attain the full credit value of this qualification.

Hanging wall coverings to complex surfaces in the
workplace
Hanging specialised paper wallcoverings in the
workplace
Producing comb textured finishes in the workplace
Applying metal leaf to surfaces in the workplace
Installing coving and decorative mouldings in the

Applying coatings to produce textured finishes in the

Producing broken colour work in the workplace
Producing stencil designs using pre-cut stencil plates in

Evidence Required
Evidence will be gained using a method of assessments. The assessor will carry out site visits to aid with gaining evidence around the national occupational standards. Knowledge based sessions will take place as well as professional discussions and direct observations. Product evidence will also be used from a range photos, videos on projects where the candidate conducted his works.
