Overview
This course is aimed at candidates that require the knowledge and practical skills to operate 360 excavator for lifting operations.
The NPORS Excavator 360 qualification is required to gain the bolt on unit.
Course Content
Candidates will be able to:
- Understand the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator
- Conform to manufacturers requirements as per technical data, conform to relevant regulations and legislation
- Locate, identify and explain safe working loads, lifting capacity charts and explain different lifting configurations and working ranges
- Identify and explain different lifting procedures and explain what task could fall into each category
- Identify and explain centres of gravity and calculate estimated weights of loads
- Identify any overhead/proximity hazards
- Agree the signal codes/hand signals, direction of movement, safe working and safe landing and placement zone with the slinger/signaller
- Ensure the excavator is in a safe condition for attachments to be fitted
- Check load integrity and security by carrying out trial lifts
- Lift and move a load to a designated position in a safe and controlled manner ensuring minimum uncontrolled movement
- Understand environmental considerations
- Carry out all out of service and securing procedures
Entry Requirements
NPORS CSCS – Candidates must have achieved the relevant CITB Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) touch-screen-test within 2 years.
Good understanding of spoken and written English.
Duration
Novice course- 5 days depending on experience
Experienced worker tests- 1 day theory and practical assessment
Location
Customer Site (Training & Testing) – Site must adhere to NPORS specifications
Next Steps
NPORS Traditional Card – There are no requirements to complete an NVQ, a five year card is issued and after five years reassessment is required.
To upgrade your card to Blue, you will need to complete the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plant Operations – Excavating and an Operatives Health, Safety and Environment Test completed within the last 2 years.
