The Piling Rig operative NVQ level 2 qualification structure below specifies the combination of units that need to be achieved for the individual to be awarded the qualification. The NVQ is aimed at individuals who contributing to the piling process by moving, guiding, preparing the piling rig for day to day duties.
CPCS/NPORS/CSCS Red to Blue
On completion of your NVQ qualification, along with passing the relevant CITB HS&E test (within the last 2 years), you will be able to apply for the blue competent operator card this will be recognized by NPORS/CPCS or CSCS which will gain you a blue skilled worker card in piling operations.
Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Piling Operations (Piling Rig Operative)
The structure of this qualification is built up using mandatory and optional units, all five mandatory units and one optional unit must be completed to attain the full credit value of this qualification.

and loose materials in the workplace
Preparing and operating wheeled loading
shovels to extract loose materials in the
workplace
Preparing and operating tracked loading
shovels to extract ground and loose
materials in the workplace
Preparing and operating skid steer loaders
to extract loose materials in the workplace
reparing and operating 360 degree
excavators to extract ground, face and/or
loose materials in the workplace
Preparing and operating powered units,
tools or pedestrian plant, machinery or
equipment in the workplace
Evidence Required
Evidence will be gained using a method of assessments. The assessor will carry out site visits to aid with gaining evidence around the national occupational standards. The mandatory evidence required is a knowledge based session one on one with the assessor. Professional discussion around previous experiences and job role specifics. Direct observation of the piling rig being operated. Witness statement from a suitable competent person. All evidence gained is assessed around the national occupational working standards.
