This course is aimed at candidates that require the knowledge and practical skills operate to operate a Concrete Pump safely and efficiently.

Entry Requirements

NPORS CSCS – Candidates must have achieved the relevant CITB Health, Safety &.
Environment (HS&E) touch-screen-test within 2 years.
Good understanding of spoken and written English.

Course Content

Understand the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator.
Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used.
Locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions.
Locate and identify key controls and explain their functions.
Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer and legislative requirements.
Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for concrete pump use.
Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area.
Prepare the concrete pump for use and operate machinery safely and efficiently.
Complete safe un-blocking and re-connecting procedures.
Prepare the concrete pump for cleaning and carry out cleaning tasks safely and efficiently.
Understand environmental considerations.

Assessment

Novice – Five (5) Days – Classroom-based and Practical Training and testing

Experienced Worker Tests – One (1) Day – Theory and Practical Tests

Certification

Successful candidates will be issued with an NPORS Traditional Operator card (valid for 5 years) or an NPORS Red Trained Operator card (valid for 2 years).

Next Steps

NPORS Traditional Card – There are no requirements to complete an NVQ, a five year card is issued and after five years reassessment is required.
To upgrade your card to Blue, you will need to complete the Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Plant Operations – Transporting Loads and an Operatives Health, Safety and Environment Test completed within the last 2 years.
Store and transport implements and attachments.
Carry out end of shift and shut down procedures.
