Description

Course Overview

The CITB SMSTS course is designed for site managers, site agents and persons who are, or due to be, responsible for planning, organising, monitoring, controlling, and administering groups of staff and a workforce.

It will cover relevant legislation and other aspects which affect safe working in the building, construction, and Civil Engineering industries. It will highlight the importance of risk assessments in the workplace, the implementation of control measures and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture among the workforces.

Entry Requirements

• There are no formal entry requirements, however it is recommended for learners to have the following:.
• Good understanding of spoken and written English.
• Hold or be about to hold the role of a site manager.
• Previous health and safety knowledge.

Course Content

• Health and Safety at Work Act.
• CDM Regulations.
• Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
• Recent changes in accepted working practices.
• Behavioural Safety.
• Management of Occupational Health.
• Electricity.
• Excavations.

Assessment

Five (5) Days – Classroom-based and Online Options available

Learners must attend all 5 days (37.5 hours) and pass the end of course assessment to be eligible for certification.

Certification

Successful candidates will be issued with an CITB Site Management Safety Training

Scheme certificate (valid for 5 years).
