Course Overview

This course will give candidates a thorough understanding of the relevant operational and safety requirements to those who are required to attach or work with machinery that require the operation of quick hitch systems.

• Course Duration: Novice 1 Day & Experienced Worker Tests 1 Day
• Card Validity: Traditional Card – 5 Years

Entry Requirements

• NPORS CSCS – Candidates must have achieved the relevant CITB Health, Safety &.
• Environment (HS&E) touch-screen-test within 2 years.
• Good understanding of spoken and written English.

Course Content

• Understand the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as a plant operator.
• Understand the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular Quick Hitch to be used.
• Locate and identify the major components of the Quick Hitch and explain their functions.
• Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for Quick Hitch use.
• Explain the different types of Quick hitch devices.
• Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements.
• Conduct all necessary safety checks at the designated change over area.
• Fit and remove attachments safely and efficiently.
• Demonstrate and explain checks for attachment security.
• Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures.

Assessment

Novice – One (1) Day – Classroom-based and Practical Training and testing

Experienced Worker Tests – One (1) Day – Theory and Practical Tests

Certification

Successful candidates will be issued with a NPORS Traditional Operator card (valid for 5 years).

Next Steps

NPORS Traditional Card – There are no requirements to complete an NVQ, a five year card is issued and after five years reassessment is required.
