About the Course
The CPCS A44 Concrete Pump (Trailer Mounted) category assesses a candidate’s ability to safely set up, operate, maintain, and shut down a trailer‑mounted concrete pump in accordance with legislation, manufacturer guidance, and industry best practice.
Because of the specialist nature of this equipment, CPCS requires the test to be completed on a live site. We do not offer centre‑based testing for this category.

Entry Requirements
To sit the CPCS A44 test, candidates must have:
- A valid CITB Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) Test passed within the last 2 years
- A good understanding of spoken and written English
- Access to a suitable trailer‑mounted concrete pump and safe testing area on site

What The Assessment Covers
During the CPCS A44 assessment, candidates must demonstrate their ability to:
- Describe the role and responsibilities of a concrete pump operator
- Identify components, controls, and terminology
- Follow manufacturer requirements and legislation
- Carry out pre‑use checks
- Position and configure the pump for safe pumping duties
- Deploy outriggers correctly (where applicable)
- Arrange, anchor, and secure pipes and lines
- Confirm suitability of concrete mixes
- Follow communication procedures
- Direct mixer trucks into position
- Identify hazards including underground and overhead services
- Pump and control concrete accurately to the pour location
- Identify and resolve blockages safely
- Maintain safe working practices
- Carry out shutdown, cleaning, and securing procedures
Assessment
The CPCS A44 on‑site test includes:
- CPCS Theory Test (verbal, recorded)
- CPCS Practical Test carried out on your trailer‑mounted concrete pump
Your site and equipment must meet CPCS testing requirements. We will guide you through what is needed.
Certification
Successful candidates receive the CPCS Red Trained Operator Card for the A44 Concrete Pump (Trailer Mounted) category, valid for 2 years.
