Renew Your First Aid at Work Qualification
The First Aid at Work Refresher (FAWR) Course is designed for learners who already hold a valid First Aid at Work certificate and need to renew their qualification before it expires. This 2-day course updates existing first aid knowledge, reinforces practical skills, and ensures workplace first aiders remain confident in dealing with emergencies.
Successful candidates will receive a renewed First Aid at Work Certificate, valid for a further three years.

Entry Requirements
Learners must:
- Hold a valid First Aid at Work certificate that has not expired
- Have a good understanding of spoken and written English
- Be able to take part in practical training activities
What You Will Learn
By the end of the course, learners will be able to confidently respond to workplace emergencies and provide effective first aid treatment until professional medical assistance arrives.
Course Content Includes:
- Reviewing the role and responsibilities of a workplace first aider
- Assessing incidents and prioritising casualties
- Managing unconscious casualties
- Performing CPR effectively
- Safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Recognising and treating shock
- Controlling bleeding and managing wounds
- Treating burns and scalds
- Managing fractures, sprains and strains
- Dealing with eye injuries
- Responding to poisoning incidents
- Recognising common medical emergencies
- Recording and reporting first aid incidents
- Checking and maintaining workplace first aid equipment
Assessment
Assessment takes place throughout the course using practical activities, instructor observation, and knowledge checks.
To achieve certification, learners must:
- Attend the full course duration
- Demonstrate competence in practical first aid skills
- Successfully complete the required assessments
Certification
On successful completion, candidates will receive a renewed First Aid at Work (FAW) Certificate valid for three years.
This qualification confirms the learner’s ability to provide first aid in the workplace and respond effectively to a range of medical emergencies and injuries.
